FALL OUT BOY grace the cover of the next issue of Big Cheese (no. 105, November '08) to talk about their highly anticipated new album, 'Folie A Deux', and their time away from the limelight. If you can't wait until then, here's a preview of some of the things bassist, lyricist and often band spokesman Pete Wentz had to say to Big Cheese. “If you're a fan of the band it will be a log on the fire. If you're not a fan we're not going to convince anyone with this record. But I'm happy with it. I had to look up how to pronounce the title on the internet (laughs). The definition is “the shared madness of two”. So that could be anyone, it could be Bush and Cheney, Romeo and Juliet, Sid and Nancy or Britney and the paparazzi. I think it's easily applicable. It's happened to everyone. You meet someone, and you share the same neuroses, and when you're together you make this special cake that no one else can understand.”
“Personally I didn't feel any pressure on this record. It's like WWF characters, you get the big celebrities like Hulk Hogan, but I see myself as one of the bad guys. People are saying 'Pete's a dick' or 'Pete's gone Hollywood' or whatever, so I'm thinking that it can't really get much worse (laughs). But the writing process hasn't changed - we're just as involved as we've always been. The one thing the band are interested in is not disappointing the fans, because they're the most forgiving and understanding. They are the ones who stand in line for hours for a show that they might not get into. They laugh at our jokes when they're not funny. And they're the ones that will buy the CD.”
